The technology group's largest research centre worldwide
Siemens has opened the first construction phase of its Siemens Technology Centre (STC) in Munich. The STC is located in the Research Centre Garching, north of the state capital of Bavaria.
In addition to Siemens, the Technical University (TUM), the Max Planck Society and SAP branches. According to the Siemens press release, around 28,000 people work there. This makes the Garching research campus one of the largest centres for science, research and teaching in Europe.

As Siemens emphasises, the research centre stands for openness and for working in an open environment. Research and innovation ecosystem.
Specifically, according to the press release, the STC will be much more open through joint TUM activities such as hackathons and lectures.
In this context, Siemens points out that it conducts research worldwide together with universities and customers, among others. According to the press release, this takes place in a total of 16 Siemens Research and Innovation Ecosystems.

Bundling of central research activities
According to Siemens, its central research activities in Germany will be bundled in the new STC. Initially, around 450 employees will work on future technologies together with 150 scientists from TUM.
The opening of the second construction phase with more than 630 researchers and patent experts from Siemens Technology is planned for 2027. The STC will then be the largest research centre of the twelve central Siemens research locations worldwide.
