Gebrüder Weiss supports with means of transportation
The international logistics company Gebrüder Weiss is providing transportation and equipment for an expedition by an international research team through Greenland. According to the information provided, this is "The Greenland Project", in which two scientists, a doctor and a photographer will walk through Greenland for a month to investigate climate change. Last Monday, April 29, 2024, marks the start of the excursion.

Low-emission research
Greenland is one of the largest ice regions in the world and reacts sensitively to climate change. The team is moving along the 70th degree north latitude from the west coast to the east coast. Measurements of the ice thickness will be taken regularly along this route in order to be able to compare the values with each other.
The four team members are transported on skis. Each of them also pulls a sledge behind them.
"It is important to us that our research, which mainly focuses on the climate and glacier melt, generates as few emissions as possible. An expedition on foot into this fragile ecosystem allows for measurements that are much more environmentally friendly than those taken by helicopter and more accurate than those taken by satellite," explains Niklas Marc Heinecke, photographer and co-founder of "The Greenland Project."
Destination of the excursion
According to the information, the results will be further investigated at the University of Sunshine Coast in Australia and sent to researchers around the world.
The aim is to find out how temperatures in Greenland have changed in recent decades and how this affects the global climate.
