Expansion of the production lines for medical products

Packaging manufacturer Coveris is investing eight million euros in the expansion of its production capacity. Specifically, this involves the modernization and expansion of the production lines for medical products at the German sites in Rohrdorf and Halle.

According to the company's press release, the investment is being made in response to the increasing demand for high-quality packaging solutions for medical requirements.

Two new bag systems in Rohrdorf

Coveris says it has been operating the plant in Rohrdorf since May 2021. Two new bag lines and a header bag line are to be installed there from fall 2024.

The new bagging lines are technologically comparable with the existing systems at the site. This will ensure rapid integration into the machine park, writes Coveris. The three new production lines are scheduled to go into operation on October 1, 2024.

According to the press release, a new cast film extrusion line is planned for the Halle site. Coveris is planning the first commercial production in the new extrusion line for early 2025.

Christian Kolarik, CEO of Coveris, explains: "We are investing in modernizing our sites to meet our customers' growing demand for high-performance medical packaging. A clean and safe environment is extremely important for this sector, but sustainability is also an issue."
