Total investment of around 300 million euros

Haribo is planning to build a new, more modern confectionery factory in Neuss.
Talks are currently being held with the city of Neuss for a plot of land.

The property that Haribo would like to acquire from the city is located in the industrial park in Neuss-Holzheim and is around 14 hectares in size. According to its press release, the confectionery manufacturer is expecting a total investment of around 300 million euros. As the family-run company emphasizes, the planned new building is part of its international production and growth strategy.

New jobs

According to Haribo, construction could begin as early as 2025. Confectionery production there could then possibly start in 2028.

The current production facility that Haribo operates in Neuss is expected to be replaced by the new plant in 2030. The new factory will have around twice the production capacity. Both Maoam brand chewy sweets and Haribo fruit gums will then be produced there.

Maoam products for the whole world are manufactured in the current factory. According to Haribo, the factory has reached its capacity limits and cannot be expanded.

It is planned that the current employees will move to the new plant. In addition, 100 new direct jobs may be created. The company also expects numerous indirect jobs to be created with added value for service providers and suppliers from the region.

Sustainability

In its press release, the family-owned company emphasizes that the new building sets standards in terms of sustainability. The new site in Neuss will be an important building block in the company's efforts to restructure its entire production sustainably and in a way that is fit for the future. The new facility is set to become one of the world's most modern and innovative plants in the confectionery industry, writes Haribo.

Arndt Rüsges, Chief Operations Officer DACH, explains the planned new building: "The expertise and experience of our employees is our greatest asset. With the new plant, we are now taking the next logical step into the future and consciously investing in Germany as a business location, our important home market."
