Cloud-based monitoring of all Trumpf lasers in the global production network
The car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz and the technology company Trumpf are operating a new type of maintenance for the Trumpf lasers. As Trumpf reports, the two companies are focusing on predictive, digital maintenance in this regard.
Trumpf refers to this as the age of the smart factory. Cloud-based monitoring of all Trumpf lasers is now being operated in Mercedes-Benz's global production network. According to the Trumpf press release, a pilot project for this was carried out in advance at the Mercedes plant in Sindelfingen.
Predictive, digital maintenance
According to Trumpf, the new process reduces the risk of unplanned machine downtime. According to the company, this makes it possible to improve the stability of complex vehicle processes. Previously, laser maintenance was carried out at fixed intervals directly on the systems at the respective sites, the technology group writes.
According to Trumpf, the two companies have been working together for years. According to the explanations, they are pursuing the goal of making the use of complex systems in production more resilient and efficient.
"The future of automotive production lies in predictive, digital processes, dynamic maintenance, and maximum failure protection. Together with our partner TRUMPF, we are driving forward continuous process optimization in plant maintenance with innovative condition monitoring," says Jörg Burzer, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG – Production, Quality & Supply Chain Management.
