Technology transfer, innovation, service
One hundred years ago, ZF entered the rail vehicle market. Back then, the technology group presented a drive system for railcars.
According to ZF, this was an adaptation of a technology that had been developed primarily for passenger cars. Since then, ZF has continued to develop as a supplier of rail technology. According to the press release, this has been achieved through acquisitions and an international presence, among other things.
Today, ZF says it offers a range of products for many manufacturers and operators of rail vehicles. This now also includes digital products.
There will be an exhibition at the ZF Forum in Friedrichshafen to mark the anniversary. According to the press release, the Group also intends to present its tradition as a theme at the next edition of the InnoTrans trade fair in September.
Technology transfer
In its press release, ZF emphasizes that its recipes for success are still effective. According to the company, these include technology transfer and innovation, service strength and international presence.
Markus Groß, Product Line Manager for Rail Technology at ZF, says of the rail technology sector and the technology transfer: "As a singular market, rail technology was not large enough in terms of volume for the development of technological innovations in the field of transmission technology. ZF was able to score points here with the transfer of its innovative drive technology from other applications - especially commercial vehicles."
