Smart Factory for SF6-free medium and low voltage technology

Schneider Electric is building a new factory in Dunavecse, Hungary. According to the company, this will expand its production capacities in Europe. In future, medium and low-voltage technology will be manufactured in Dunavecse without sulphur hexafluoride (SF6).

According to Schneider Electric's press release, the new plant is a so-called smart factory. According to the technology group, such a factory is a fully networked production environment that organizes itself and, in the best case, functions without human intervention. According to Schneider Electric, it operates 36 factories of this type, 22 of which are located in Europe.

Flexible production

According to the press release, the new plant has an area of 28,000 square meters and around 500 employees.

According to Schneider Electric, production there is based on the engineering-to-order (ETO) principle. According to the Group, this approach means that the product is only planned and manufactured after the order has been received. According to Schneider Electric, this requires highly flexible, automated production environments.

By increasing its production capacity for SF6-free switchgear, Schneider Electric is helping to meet the growing demand for environmentally friendly grid technology, the company said in its press release.

Yann Reynaud, Senior Vice President, Global Engineering to Order Operations at Schneider Electric, explains: "With the smart and ETO-oriented production of SF6-free medium and low-voltage solutions in Dunavecse, we are meeting the growing demand and offering our customers even more innovation, sustainability and digital solutions."
