Continental Mobile Robots and Amazon Web Services cooperate
Continental Mobile Robots is working with Amazon Web Services(AWS) to develop a new software solution for autonomous mobile robots (AMR). This is intended to enable flexible control of Continental's software package, which is used in the intralogistics and agriculture sectors.
"AWS' innovation-focused services help us to produce state-of-the-art mobile robots with a high level of safety and reliability. The platform has already been successfully used in the first customer applications in the field of intralogistics," said Rahul Singh, Global Head of AMR Software at Continental.
The aim is to further improve the technological infrastructure for AMR.
Better control and monitoring
The software is based on a cloud-based platform. This enables functions such as remote maintenance and monitoring of the robots through simulations. The software package also uses cloud computing and artificial intelligence to ensure safe navigation of the robots.
This partnership enables customers to manage the robots efficiently over their entire service life. The solutions can be flexibly adapted to specific industry requirements.
AWS supports this by providing advanced functions such as serverless computing.
Intralogistics and agriculture
Continental Mobile Robots is assigned to the Automotive sector of Continental.
The areas for autonomous mobile robots are intralogistics and agriculture.
Intralogistics AMR is already being used in Europe, Asia and North America. It improves material flow, minimizes errors and reduces labour shortages and operating costs.
The agricultural AMR is set to be launched on the market by the end of 2024. According to the information provided, it offers a self-propelled platform for use in greenhouses that can perform various tasks autonomously.
