Since the Australian Grand Prix in March this year, Formula 1 has been using the DHL GoGreen Plus service to reduce CO\u2082 emissions on flights by around 80 per cent compared to conventional aviation fuel. Up to the Singapore Grand Prix in September, around 20 per cent of freight flights outside Europe were carried out with SAF.<\/p>\n<p>This marks a new chapter in the 20-year partnership between DHL and Formula 1. <em>climate neutral <\/em>become. <\/p>\n<p>Paul Fowler, Head of DHL Motorsports Logistics, emphasises: \u201eWith our expertise, we support Formula 1 in transporting racing cars and other equipment internationally as efficiently as possible.\u201c<\/p>\n<h3>Less CO2 emissions<\/h3>\n<p>DHL offers transport routes by land, sea and air. This season, DHL has doubled its fleet of biofuel-powered lorries to 37 vehicles. This reduces CO2 emissions by an average of 83 per cent compared to diesel vehicles. In addition, DHL uses Boeing 777 aircraft, which produce around 17 per cent fewer emissions than conventional aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>Formula 1 is also optimising the race calendar in order to minimise transport and use shorter routes. <\/p>\n<p>DHL and Formula 1 are jointly researching further measures to reduce CO\u2082 emissions in motorsport.<\/p>\n<h3>Book-and-claim system<\/h3>\n<p>SAF is produced from renewable sources such as used cooking oil.<\/p>\n<p>In Formula 1 logistics, SAF is used via the \u201ebook-and-claim\u201c system. The environmental effect of the reduced emissions is separated from the physical fuel. This means that buyers can purchase a certain quantity of SAF and have the associated emission reductions credited to them. The fuel itself does not have to be owned.
