The old High-pressure gas pipeline<\/strong> on the premises of Northvolt, a Swedish manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries, was replaced by a new Gas transport pipeline<\/em> replaced. The location is the German town of Heide.<\/p>\n This new line, which has been laid since May, was recently put into operation by Schleswig-Holstein Netz (SH Netz), a company of the HanseWerk Group. The aim is to ensure security of supply for Northvolt.<\/p>\n This new gas pipeline will transport around 130 million standard cubic metres of gas per year, which is enough to supply around 100,000 households with an average annual consumption of 15,000 kilowatt hours.<\/p>\n The pipeline is reportedly 2.6 kilometres long and only needs to be checked for pressure. The pipeline was also filled with 86,000 litres of water and tested for leaks. <\/p>\n Northvolt's temporary office building was evacuated for safety reasons. <\/p>\n A connection was also made between the old and new pipelines. This meant that the new main gas transport pipeline could be completely filled after three and a half hours.<\/p>\n The rerouting of the gas pipeline was necessary so that the pipeline would not run under future buildings of the battery factory, according to the information.<\/p>\n SH Netz plans to complete the dismantling of a 200 metre section of the old pipeline on a private site in the south this week.
