According to the press release, the \u201exPBS\u201c project has developed a bio-based extrusion foam made from polybutylene succinate (PBS) that can replace conventional petroleum-based materials such as polyethylene. Fraunhofer states that the new foam is suitable for applications in packaging, transport solutions, and construction, areas with high demand.<\/p>\n
According to the press release, it is particularly important that it is a so-called drop-in solution. This means that companies can process the new foam using existing production facilities without having to invest in expensive conversions.
