On the occasion of the start of Hannover Messe 2026, the T\u00dcV Association has called for the swift implementation of the EU AI Act according to the European Commission's proposal, in order to create a uniform legal framework for industrial AI applications across Europe. The goal is a reliable framework for the use of artificial intelligence in industry.<\/p>\n
According to the T\u00dcV Association, AI is gaining increasing importance in areas such as robotics, automated quality control, and digital simulations. At the same time, the association emphasises that the use of AI also creates new risks, particularly in human-machine interaction or in autonomous incorrect decisions. Therefore, clear legal requirements are necessary to ensure safety and trust. The risk-based approach of the AI Act provides for specific requirements for high-risk AI systems, such as in machinery, medical devices, or toys.<\/p>\n
According to the press release, there is currently a discussion about amending parts of the AI Act within the framework of a so-called \u201eDigital Omnibus\u201c. Certain high-risk products could be removed from the scope of the law.<\/p>\n
The T\u00dcV Association warns that this could lead to a regulatory vacuum lasting for years. According to the Association, individual industry regulations would emerge instead, even though the underlying technologies and risks are identical. Uniform safety standards could thus not be guaranteed, which would lead to long-term uncertainty and a lower level of protection.<\/p>\n
According to the press release, the T\u00dcV Association sees significant disadvantages for companies in sectoral regulation. Instead of reducing bureaucracy, there is a risk of a confusing patchwork of different regulations, standards, and deadlines.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Europe could miss the opportunity to become a global leader in AI standards. According to the T\u00dcV Association, companies might reduce their involvement in relevant committees, which would make it harder to develop uniform standards. Overall, the association therefore calls for the original, uniform approach of the AI Act to be maintained and for clear rules for high-risk AI systems to be ensured.<\/p>\n
