Using modern computer vision technology, the system is intended to create a precise and customs-compliant description of the shipment's contents within seconds. This is expected to significantly simplify one of the most complicated steps in international shipping to date.<\/p>\n<p>According to DHL, it is sufficient to photograph the item with a smartphone or another device. The AI is supposed to analyse the image server-side and then suggest a suitable description, which customers can amend or supplement if necessary. Registration with DHL Express is not required for this.<\/p>\n<h3>Benefits for customers and customs clearance<\/h3>\n<p>According to the press release, the new technology primarily improves the quality of shipment data. Faulty or inaccurate information is to be reduced, which in turn leads to fewer delays and faster customs clearance. At the same time, the booking process will become simpler and more user-friendly, regardless of how much experience customers have with international shipping.<\/p>\n<p>Dirk Olufs, EVP and Global CIO at DHL Express, stated in a press release that correctly captured shipment data benefits all subsequent process steps. Enna Zarate, Senior Vice President Digital Customer Solutions, also emphasised that the new AI solution is based on customer feedback and aims to set a new industry standard.<\/p>\n<h3>Introduction planned in several countries<\/h3>\n<p>According to the press release, the function is currently already available in eight markets, including Germany, Canada, Singapore, and the Netherlands. A phased global rollout is planned for 2026.<\/p>\n<p>With the new solution, DHL Express is taking an important step in the use of artificial intelligence in logistics, according to its own statement.
