Investment of more than 100 million euros
Mail order company Otto opened its new headquarters in the middle of last week. The building is located in Hamburg-Bramfeld on the Otto Group campus.
According to the retail company, it has invested over 100 million euros in its new headquarters. It is a strong commitment to the Hamburg location. In future, more than 3,000 people will work at the headquarters - using the so-called desk-sharing principle, i.e. without permanently assigned workstations.
Conversion instead of new build
A warehouse built in 1969 was converted into the new head office. This took five years to complete. According to Otto, the company opted for a conversion rather than a new building for ecological reasons, among others.
According to Otto, the building covers a total of 40,000 square meters. The total workspace is 25,000 square meters. In future, there will be 1,600 workstations, 170 meeting rooms, three event areas and eight social spaces. These social spaces will be used as meeting places and break rooms.
Michael Otto, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Otto Group, explains: "The new OTTO headquarters is a highly visible sign of the future of OTTO and the Otto Group." As the largest online store in Germany, Otto will continue to play a key role in shaping the future of online retail from its historic location in Hamburg-Bramfeld.
