Takeover of the parent company of Bormioli Pharma
Gerresheimer Glas GmbH, an indirect subsidiary of Gerresheimer AG, acquires Blitz LuxCo Sarl.
This company is the holding company of the packaging manufacturer Bormioli Pharma. As Gerresheimer announced, a purchase agreement has been signed with funds from the finance company Triton.
According to Gerresheimer, the Bormioli Pharma Group generates annual sales of around 370 million euros. The product portfolio includes pharmaceutical packaging made of glass and plastic as well as closure solutions, accessories and dosing systems.
Strengthening our European presence
According to the press release, Gerresheimer sees Bormioli Pharma's portfolio as complementary to its own.
The acquisition strengthens Gerresheimer's European presence with additional production sites, particularly in Southern Europe, writes the Düsseldorf-based Group. According to the company, it is also consolidating its market position as a full-service provider and partner for the pharma and biotech industry. According to the press release, Gerresheimer also assumes that the acquisition of Bormioli Pharma will drive its further transformation into a systems and solutions provider as part of its formula g corporate strategy.
Dietmar Siemssen, CEO of Gerresheimer AG, explains: "Bormioli Pharma is an ideal strategic fit for us and accelerates our transformation into an integrated systems and solutions provider. In particular, we are expanding our portfolio with additional high value solutions."
The takeover is still subject to various closing conditions and approvals. It is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of the 2024 financial year.
