New Chairman of the Management Board and also new Chief Production Officer
Aurubis has completed the reorganization of its Executive Board announced in January of this year.
This was recently reported by the supplier of copper and other metals. At its meeting on June 20, 2024, the company's Supervisory Board decided to appoint Toralf Haag as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Tim Kurth as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the primary copper business. The two managers will take up their positions with effect from September 1, 2024.
New CEO with industry experience
As the Hamburg-based group writes in its press release, the future CEO has extensive industrial experience. Toralf Haag began his career at Thyssen Handelsunion AG in 1994 and held various management positions within the Thyssenkrupp Group.
In between, he was Chief Financial Officer at Norddeutsche Affinerie AG, now Aurubis AG, from 2002 to 2005, before moving to Lonza Group AG. In October 2016, Toralf Haag became a member of the Corporate Board of Management of the Voith Group, which he has chaired since October 2018.
Long-time Aurubis employee as new Chief Production Officer
The new Chief Production Officer Tim Kurth is currently still Managing Director of Aurubis Bulgaria and Plant Manager of the Bulgarian site. He gained his first professional experience at Unilever. Kurth joined Aurubis AG in 2006 and has held various management positions there since then. He has already worked at Aurubis as Corporate Innovation Manager and Vice President Corporate Logistics. The Group also writes about Kurth that he has extensive knowledge of metallurgical processes and Aurubis' operating business.
