Samsung buys German ventilation manufacturer

Takeover of the long-established FläktGroup

The technology group Samsung, which is particularly well-known for its cell phones, acquires FläktGroup, a ventilation specialist based in Herne.

The roots of FläktGroup go back to the year 1909. According to its own statement, FläktGroup is one of the market leaders for energy-efficient indoor air solutions and critical air functions.

The company has existed in its current form since 2016 following the merger of FläktWoods Group and DencoHappel GmbH. According to its website, FläktGroup has also been owned by the investment company Triton since 2016.

Triton is now selling FläktGroup to Samsung, as the investment company announced in a press release on May 14. Accordingly, an agreement has been signed to sell all shares in FläktGroup (worth 1.5 billion euros to Samsung Electronics Co, Ltd. This corresponds to an enterprise value of 1.8 billion euros.

The transaction is subject to the usual regulatory approvals and contractual conditions and is expected to be completed in the course of 2025.
