The pillars of success of state-of-the-art purchasing are as follows:
- the purchasing objectives and strategies derived from the corporate objectives
- the efficiently aligned processes with which these objectives are to be achieved
- the effectively operating organization in which the optimization is driven forward
- the qualified employees for implementation
- as well as the methods and tools made available to them and safely mastered for this purpose
Ultimately, this process must be established and effectively stabilized through meaningful purchasing controlling with the really important and correct key figures.
Optimization not just for the sake of optimization
Kloepfel Consulting relies on the best-fit principle. In this context, best-fit means that purchasing is primarily aligned with the company's requirements and optimization is not just for the sake of optimization or a "best practice" from outside the industry. Here, too, there is a risk of "over-engineering", which is particularly well known in the mechanical engineering sector. Make sure that every change in purchasing is really results-oriented. Purchasing must develop into the company's profit engine and requirements must be regularly reviewed, also and above all in line with the company's objectives.

An individual therapy requires an individual diagnosis
The requirements are adapted to the individual company by classifying them according to industry and company size or the purchasing volume to be processed and, above all, the impact of purchasing costs on the company's results. Kloepfel Consulting takes a very structured approach to evaluating the individual criteria with a detailed questionnaire covering over 600 points. In a visually prepared presentation of the results, weak points can be found quickly and decisively according to the traffic light principle and detailed optimization steps can be planned, initiated and implemented.
Diagnosis in one day
The effort required for the purchasing structure analysis is extremely low due to the structured approach. A one-day workshop in the company is followed by a short preparation and evaluation phase. Based on the evaluation, you will receive a detailed "situation report" of your purchasing department within one to two weeks, which the purchasing and company management can use to initiate and implement the necessary measures. Emotional assessments and subjective evaluations are therefore a thing of the past.
Holistic optimization on site at a fair fee
The 6 purchasing success pillars below (strategy, processes, organization, employees, methods/tools and controlling) are based on further subgroups, some of which interact with each other (see Figure 2). For example, a functioning material group management is necessary in order to successfully manage suppliers. Even a highly qualified purchasing employee with a reliable selection of methods/tools cannot contribute to the company's success without the appropriate capacity. Of course, these statements also apply vice versa.
