From meat company to broad-based food producer
The Tönnies Holding will change its name on 1 January 2025. The group of companies will then operate as the Premium Food Group (PFG) at holding level. According to the Group's press release, this is in line with the development from a meat company to a broad-based food producer that has taken place in recent years.
According to the family-owned company, the Tönnies brand will continue to exist. According to the press release, its brand essence will be sharpened. In future, the Tönnies brand will be used exclusively for the independent meat production division.
Broad positioning along the value chain
Tönnies Holding was founded in 1971 by Bernd and Clemens Tönnies. Its roots lie in their parents' butcher's shop, as can be seen from the press release.
According to the company, the Group has positioned itself ever more broadly along the value chain. In addition to meat and sausage products, the group also produces and markets veggie products, convenience items, animal feed, sauces, soups, by-products such as proteins, fats and flours and much more. The Group also supplies raw materials for the pharmaceutical industry and for biofuel. Tönnies also operates its own cold stores and a fresh and ultra-fresh logistics company. The Group has also invested in many other areas along the value chain.
Innovative production processes
The shareholders Clemens, Maximilian and Robert Tönnies explain: „Our strategic development towards innovative products and service areas along the value chain shows that we are not only focussing on the present, but also on the future of the food industry and want to play an active role in shaping healthy nutrition for people.“ In doing so, the company is focussing on innovative and sustainable production processes.
