Tafe Motors and Tractors is part of Tafe, which according to Deutz is the third-largest tractor manufacturer in the world. This allows the Cologne-based company to tap into one of the world's fastest-growing markets.

Opportunities in India

As Deutz explains, Indian economic growth in 2023 was around 6 to 7 percent. Furthermore, the Cologne-based engine manufacturer expects India's gross domestic product (GDP) to quadruple by the year 2050.

The construction and agricultural sectors will play an important role in achieving this strong growth.

At the beginning of the partnership, Tafe Motors will produce up to 30,000 Deutz engines with a displacement of 2.2 litres (50-75 hp) and 2.9 litres (75-100 hp) under licence. The aim is to strengthen and supplement the Group's wide range of engines across the emission standards, writes Deutz.

The engines are manufactured by Tafe Motors at the plant in Alwar in the Indian state of Rajasthan. According to the press release, the Indian production site will enable Deutz to market the engines in neighbouring markets (especially APAC). Deutz will benefit from advantages in production and logistics.
