Commissioning of the 18th long-haul freighter
One of the world's leading companies in the transport of Air freight, Lufthansa Cargo, celebrated his 18th birthday on 17 August 2024. Long-haul freighter into operation. This is part of the „B777 freighter“ fleet.
According to the company, the freighter originates from the Boeing plant in Everett in the USA. It has now been transferred to the cargo airline's largest hub, Frankfurt Airport.
Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo, explains: „We are delighted to welcome another efficient freighter to our fleet. This will enable us to provide additional capacity to our customers, continue to grow in the airfreight market and facilitate global trade.“
Lufthansa Cargo can thus adapt its network even more specifically to the requirements of its customers and react quickly to changes in the market. According to the company, the B777F is the most efficient and advanced freighter in its category. With the new aircraft, Lufthansa Cargo is thus making another significant investment in its modern long-haul fleet and contributing to the more sustainable organisation of airfreight.
7,000 weekly flights, 350 destinations
Lufthansa Cargo currently operates a pure long-haul fleet of twelve of its own B777F aircraft. In addition, six B777 freighters are operated by AeroLogic, a joint venture between DHL and Lufthansa Cargo.
The global network will also be expanded with four A321 freighters for short and medium-haul routes. From this summer, these aircraft will be integrated into the freighter network not only in Frankfurt, but also directly at the Munich hub.
Lufthansa Cargo also utilises the freight capacities of Lufthansa, Discover, Brussels Airlines, Austrian Airlines and SunExpress. This enables up to 7,000 flights per week to over 350 destinations worldwide.
