Initial situation: Automated, but with a bottleneck
OPO Oeschger has largely automated logistics processes, in particular through a shuttle warehouse. Nevertheless, the manual removal of articles is said to have been a bottleneck in order picking. According to Sereact's press release, the company was therefore specifically looking for a solution that could be integrated into existing processes without major structural or system adjustments. According to the press release, standardised systems from other providers were unable to meet these requirements.
Customised robotics solution with AI integration
In Sereact, OPO Oeschger found a partner who developed a customised solution. According to Sereact, the picking robot used was designed to replicate the tasks of a human order picker as realistically as possible and integrate seamlessly into the existing workplace. The AI is designed to independently recognise, pick and place the items without the need for time-consuming training. According to the press release, suitable orders are transferred to the robot via a customised interface in the warehouse management system.
Increased efficiency and strategic added value
The robot is intended to relieve employees of standardised tasks and ensure more stable processes, according to Sereact. Its performance has been deliberately adapted to the existing infrastructure and, according to the press release, currently corresponds to around half a full-time employee. According to Sereact, the main aim of the project is to build up expertise and prepare for future scaling. In the future, further robots will be used and automation will be expanded in a targeted manner in order to sustainably increase efficiency in logistics.
