Faster integration of robotic solutions
According to the press release, DHL Supply Chain is now relying on the SOFTBOT platform from SVT Robotics to accelerate automation projects worldwide. More than 8,000 collaborative robots are already in use at various company locations. According to DHL, the plug-and-play platform will enable the integration of new robotic systems up to twelve times faster than before with individually programmed interfaces. This should enable new technologies to be rolled out significantly faster and reduce operating costs.
Flexible, open-technology platform
According to the press release, the SOFTBOT platform offers pre-installed connectors that serve as a standardised integration layer between warehouse management systems and robotics solutions. This is intended to replace monolithic all-in-one systems and allow automation to be flexibly adapted to changing customer requirements or new technologies. In addition, systems should be able to be monitored across different locations and real-time data should open up new possibilities for AI-based optimisations.
Global rollouts and increased efficiency
According to DHL, goods-to-person solutions were integrated within a few hours in Europe, while new technologies were introduced in the Asia-Pacific region without interrupting operations. The standardised data is intended to increase the transparency of work processes, improve the coordination of human-robot teams and increase the resilience of the sites. According to the press release, the SOFTBOT platform is currently in use at 30 sites and is to be expanded to over 100 sites worldwide over the next three years.
