Our client, an electrical engineering company with a manual and error-prone freight invoice verification process, commissioned us with the process and cost optimization in the area of freight invoice verification. The initial situation was characterized by the use of 1.5 FTEs for manual checking, with high error potential due to numerous sub-items on the freight invoices. In addition, many unknown items made efficient processing difficult. The savings potential identified to date was less than 1%.
The aim was to reliably identify incorrect items in complex freight invoices by outsourcing freight invoice verification, to relieve staff of the burden of manual invoice verification and to reduce costs through process optimization.
We were able to achieve a cost saving of 3% of the freight volume used and at the same time reduce the number of FTEs used for testing from 1.5 to 0.5.
