Starting point
The aim of the six-month procurement cost optimisation project was to generate P&L-effective effects in purchasing. Together, purchasing results were to be secured for the future through negotiations with existing suppliers and the qualification of alternative suppliers. The optimisation process also focused on increasing the efficiency of marketing processes.
Project challenges:
One of the team's biggest challenges was to maximise the savings potential without straining the relationship with the existing suppliers. Optimisation and the search for holistic solutions were always carried out in line with the corporate philosophy. Involving the respective purchasing departments and becoming „one team“ with the local purchasers was initially a hurdle. In order to create savings potential for the future, particularly sustainable strategies had to be implemented.
Goal achievement
The project objective was achieved thanks to a professional structure, effective time management and targeted processing of defined topic blocks: the annual procurement costs of Bünting Beteiligungs-AG were sustainably and significantly reduced. During the six-month project period, the focus was on trusting and strategic cooperation. Sustainable effects were achieved through negotiations with existing suppliers and the qualification of alternative suppliers. Furthermore, a cross-client concept change in the area of weekly inserts and the personal commitment of the team led to extraordinary savings and more effective marketing processes.
Conclusion:
The ambitious project target was significantly exceeded. The cohesion of the team and intensive communication between Kloepfel Consulting and the purchasing department of Bünting Beteiligungs-AG were the recipe for success. The people involved - both internally and externally - were competent contacts and reliable advisors at all times.
