HHLA transports relief supplies to Odessa

Hamburg-Odessa harbour bridge to support the civilian population

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) reported last month Relief supplies to a children's hospital in Odessa. The goods were collected by the „Hamburg-Odessa Harbour Bridge“ campaign alliance.

This consists of several hamburgers Aid organisations, companies and associations, including HHLA.

In Odessa, the humanitarian coordination staff of the Odessa Military Administration takes over the transfer of the goods.

Medical consumables, food and medical technology

According to the information provided, the Port of Hamburg and the Port of Odessa are linked by a long-standing partnership. HHLA has also been operating the Container Terminal Odessa on the Black Sea for more than 20 years.

The Ukrainian city is in urgent need of relief supplies. For example, medical supplies, food and medical technology were delivered. The transport was organised with the help of HHLA's European logistics network.

Axel Mattern, Port of Hamburg Marketing Executive Board member, summarises: „The past few weeks have once again shown us how much the civilian population in Odessa is suffering as a result of the war. We are therefore delighted to be able to make a contribution to alleviating the emergency situation. At the same time, we are impressed by the willingness to donate and the efficiency of the network of Hamburg logistics companies“

HHLA feels particularly connected to Ukraine through its terminal in Odessa, according to Angela Titzrath, CEO of HHLA.
