Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey creates space for growth
Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey GmbH, a company specialising in manufacturer-independent MRO services, is planning to expand its warehousing and storage facilities. Storage and logistics capacities for Aircraft engines in Alzey. The company is entering into a cooperation with Goldbeck, a construction and service company, and the Timbra Group, a property developer, to implement the project.
In future, spare parts for Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey will be placed there. These will then be used for engines for regional and business aircraft as well as medium-haul jets. Once completed, the logistics area will be expanded from 242,000 square feet by 110,000 square feet. The first construction measures were already initiated in March 2024. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2024.
Tobias Baumgart, Chief Operating Officer of Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey, explains: „More and more customers from all over the world want us to overhaul their engines. With Timbra and Goldbeck, we have the right partners to create more space for this growth in Alzey.“
Improved logistics processes and sustainability
Together with the authorities, the companies are realising an economical, sustainable and future-oriented building.
Baumgart emphasises that the expansion of the warehouse will also improve logistics processes. The movement of engine parts is accelerated and the supply of production is optimised.
Sustainability also plays a major role. By utilising a photovoltaic system on the roof of the hall, the CO2 emissions of the logistics and production processes are reduced. The entire roof area is also greened. An efficient heat pump is used for the underfloor heating. As a result, the building has been awarded gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).
„We are aware of our responsibility towards people and nature - by constructing the new building, we are creating potential for further growth and thus important jobs. At the same time, we fulfil the highest standards of sustainable construction,“ explains Rubin Siddique, Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey.
